LONDON — Hollywood star Tom Hardy is facing intense scrutiny following fresh reports of unprofessional behavior and creative clashes on the set of the hit series MobLand.
Industry insiders claim the actor caused significant friction during the production of the show’s second season in the United Kingdom. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Hardy allegedly isolated himself inside his production trailer for extended periods of time, halting the filming schedule.
The resulting delays reportedly left the production crew and fellow cast members stranded on set for hours at a time.
The disruptions heavily impacted industry icons Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, who both star alongside Hardy in the prominent drama series.
An onset source described the behavior as a blatant power play. The insider noted that forcing legendary actors like Brosnan and Mirren to wait around is equivalent to professional suicide.
SCRIPTS AND CREATIVE CLASHES
The accusations regarding production delays are not the only issues facing the actor. A secondary report published by Puck News alleges that Hardy frequently attempted to rewrite show dialogue on the fly.
The actor reportedly demanded script alterations and pushed unsolicited feedback onto project creator Ronan Bennett and executive producer Jez Butterworth.
These unexpected demands reportedly triggered major creative differences on set, causing significant administrative headaches for the show’s leadership.
The unfolding situation has sparked serious internal discussions regarding Hardy’s future involvement with the high-profile franchise.
FUTURE OF THE SERIES IN LIMBO
Streaming platform Paramount+ has yet to officially announce a third season renewal for MobLand. Consequently, no definitive decisions have been made regarding potential cast shake-ups or a continuation of the storyline.
Despite the behind the scenes turmoil, network executives remain highly interested in developing a new season. Sources indicate that if an official renewal is greenlit, filming could resume as early as September.
A HISTORY OF TRAILER ISOLATION
The current controversy aligns with previous public accounts detailing Hardy’s unorthodox working habits on major Hollywood sets.
Director George Miller previously touched upon similar difficulties encountered while filming the blockbuster movie Mad Max: Fury Road. Miller recalled that Hardy frequently required heavy persuasion just to exit his trailer and shoot his scheduled scenes, a habit that fueled a highly publicized feud with co-star Charlize Theron.
Furthermore, veteran actor Patrick Stewart detailed similar behavior in his 2023 memoir regarding Hardy’s conduct during the filming of Star Trek: Nemesis.
Stewart described the actor as completely uncommunicative with the rest of the cast. He noted that Hardy never greeted anyone on set and spent all of his off-camera time hidden away in his trailer with his girlfriend.
Public representatives for Tom Hardy have chosen not to issue an official statement in response to the MobLand allegations.
