LOS ANGELES — Disney has officially greenlit the highly anticipated return of one of its most successful musical franchises. Camp Rock 3 is officially set to hit screens more than 15 years after the premiere of the last installment.
The upcoming sequel will officially reunite the Jonas Brothers as the fictional band Connect 3. The plot follows the trio as they return to the iconic summer camp to scout for a brand new opening act for their upcoming reunion tour.
The original films famously served as a major launching pad for a generation of top musical talent, including global pop star Demi Lovato in the career-defining role of Mitchie Torres.
A NEW GENERATION TAKES THE STAGE
While the original stars are set to anchor the project, the sequel is introducing a fresh ensemble of young performers hoping to make their own mark at the legendary camp.
Rising stars Liamani Segura and Hudson Stone will lead the new generation of campers as characters Sage and Desi. The supporting cast includes Malachi Barton as Fletch, Lumi Pollack as Rosie, and Casey Trotter as Cliff.
According to an industry report by Collider, the narrative tension escalates rapidly when Connect 3 arrives at the camp after suddenly losing their original opening act. The unexpected vacancy forces the competitive campers into a high-stakes musical showdown for a shot at a breakthrough career in the music industry.
ORIGINAL STARS RETURNING BEHIND THE SCENES
The film aims to strike a balance between heavy nostalgia for longtime fans of the franchise and a modernized style of musical storytelling for younger audiences. The production will track the usual camp themes of friendship, romance, bitter rivalries, and performance-driven ambition.
Although Demi Lovato will not be reprising her role on screen for the sequel, she will remain heavily involved in the project. Lovato is officially attached to the movie as an executive producer alongside the Jonas Brothers.
The franchise revival is being directed and written by the creative team of Veronica Rodriguez and Eydie Faye. Camp Rock 3 is scheduled to premiere simultaneously on Disney Channel and the Disney+ streaming platform later this summer.
