LOS ANGELES — Paris Jackson has candidly shared new details regarding her past struggles with substance abuse and her journey toward healing.
Speaking on Jack Osbourne’s podcast titled Trying Not to Die, the daughter of the late pop icon Michael Jackson revealed how deeply she was once impacted by addiction. The actress and singer stated that alcohol fundamentally altered her personality, changing her from a well-mannered individual into a vengeful version of herself.
Jackson described looking back at her behavior during those nights as morally ugly, admitting she barely recognizes the person she used to be under the influence.
A REPEATED BATTLE WITH RELAPSE
The road to recovery proved to be a major challenge for the young star. Jackson admitted she entered treatment centers multiple times in an effort to control her alcohol and drug consumption.
Despite having high expectations during each attempt at rehab, she frequently relapsed. Jackson explained that she was constantly attempting to fill an internal emptiness with attention, validation, and substances.
She noted that she now recognizes this exact same pattern of clinging to people or substances in other individuals fighting addiction today. For Jackson, the ultimate turning point arrived when she realized that sobriety was an opportunity to rediscover her true self rather than just a sacrifice.
CELEBRATING A MAJOR MILESTONE
The musician recently achieved a significant personal milestone by celebrating six years of continuous sobriety. She credits walking away from alcohol and drugs with completely transforming her daily life.
Jackson now directs her energy toward maintaining healthy relationships, practicing self-care, and sticking to a stable daily routine.
The performer, who recently made headlines by debuting a new face tattoo at Fashion Week, expressed profound gratitude for her current state of mind. She concluded the interview by stating she feels entirely comfortable being herself without the need to numb her emotions or rely on destructive habits.
